Next thing on my list is, to talk about the restaurant that we went to. Obviously it was a Mexican restaurant since we got taco bowls, and margaritas (plus you know the sign on the restaurant that is displayed on the top of the page). In my opinion New York is one of the biggest food capitals in the world, other than the obvious places like Italy, France, Japan, Spain, Singapore, etc. I think that New York is pretty high up there. There are a lot of great places in the States as well. For many of their cities, are famous for their food but because New York is so diverse in culture and the competition their is fierce. They have some of the best food around (in my opinion, but I’m open to recommendations.. hint hint).
So we went to “Ariba Ariba!” in Hells Kitchen New York, if your interested in going I will leave their website link on the bottom. My cousin and his husband live in Hells Kitchen and we had told them that we were coming to New York. So we as proper Greek girls had to visit our relatives, even if it is just for dinner. They chose the restaurant since it’s a pretty popular choice and they have amazing taste. It also helps if you live there to know whats good around the area. We were meeting them there and the first thing you notice is that there is an outside seating area. It was 90 degrees that day, so hard pass on sitting outside. The next thing you notice is that there is a line to get seated and some were waiting patiently outside (talk about commitment). We had a reservation which was a god send, so we just went inside to wait for our seats and ordered our first margaritas of the night. The rest of our party finally arrived and we were escorted by the hostess to our table. We were surrounded by tons of people which I like. It was noisy and vibrant with lots of energy. If your not into being close to your neighbor, then this is definitely not the place for you.
We sat down and ordered another round of drinks and our food. The cute waiters were juggling food back and forth from table to table (yes many of the waiters were very cute ladies and gentlemen!). Anyway we got our Taco bowls which is shown on the bottom of the page, which was amazing. All the ingredients taste fresh and are cooked deliciously. I usually don’t like tomatoes in my meals but I actually ate them this time, so it was pretty good if I do say so myself. The margaritas are flavorful, colorful, and strong (which i like in a drink, especially when we are only just getting to know each other, and by we i mean me and my margarita). That taco bowl is made out of tortilla bread and it is baked to look that way. It comes out warm, the texture is crispy, and it breaks off like a chip. This is better though because its bread, and lets be honest who doesn’t like bread. The menu is jammed pack with all delicious foods but my sources told me to go with the taco bowl, and who am i to brush off first class information? The music was loud (which made me want to go dancing), the people were louder, and the vibe was just what I needed to kick off my first New York night.
